Helpful video... but why is he naked?


I shave my head.  I have to resort to reasons of practicality since nobody agrees with my reasons of aesthetics.  While it makes my life easier in many ways, it does require frequent shaving.  My hair is also very coarse.  When I let it grow out a little bit, it would have a nice porcupine-like quality (as Dawn has painfully experienced on numerous occasions).  The coarseness of my hair seems to make me go through the razor blade cartridges of Gillette Fusion Power (my favorite razor) very fast.

After seeing this video, I popped in a new razor cartridge on 1/1/2011, and followed this guy’s direction.  I shaved 1-2 times a week (yes, I get pretty scruffy) for the whole year of 2011 with one cartridge!  Considering I had gone through a cartridge every couple of weeks, this was a significant saving!  (Checking quickly at Amazon.com, a 6-pack of my razors is $22.99.  I would have gone through 26 cartridges.  That’s $100 vs. $4 per year)

I do recommend this method to anybody who shaves (I assume even for ladies, but shaving any other parts of a body has not been tested by me, or I wouldn’t admit to it).  Do not, however, expect the brand-new razor experience:  it does seem to feel more dull after a few shaves, but it would still be usable enough to get the job done.

I celebrated the new year by changing the blade to a new one.  I know, I’m living large.
